From the Publisher
In December 1937, the Japanese army swept into the ancient city of Nanking. Within weeks, more than 300,000 Chinese civilians were systematically raped, tortured, and murdered—a death toll exceeding that of the atomic blasts of Hiroshima and Nagasaki combined. a startling story by dr. david thiessen , 20 April 2005 19:00
this book is a compelling read.  stark and to the point the reader is drawn into the trauma that the chinese experienced during the war with Japan.  By not exxaggerating, embellishing the statistics nor allowing the reader to think that her numbers are the only figures that are correct, the author has allowed the reader to see the facts as they really are and make their own conclusions without feeling manipulated.  This is a tragic tale of men at their worst and at the same time at their best as the different stories unfold during the occupation of Nanking.  This is a book that needs to be read as it keeps alive the horrors that are overlooked in history classes and other books on the war.  [Delete review]
